Amit Shah praises Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav for conducting regional investment summits in different parts of the State to attract businesses in the regions
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is confident that India will soon become self-reliant in the semiconductor industry and start exporting despite making a “late entry” into the sector.
Addressing the ‘Abhyudaya: Madhya Pradesh Growth Summit’ in Gwalior on Thursday (December 25, 2025), Mr. Shah said, “We have made a late but a spectacular entry into the semiconductor industry. We not only will become self-reliant in the sector in no time but also start exporting.”
Mr. Shah inaugurated industrial projects worth more than ₹2 lakh crore across the State, while marking the 101st birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who was born in Gwalior.
The Minister praised Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav for conducting regional investment summits in different parts of the State to attract businesses in the regions. He said that the tradition of structured industrial conclaves was started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat with ‘Vibrant Gujarat’.
“Investment used to come into the State through the Vibrant Gujarat Summit. This was a successful effort, but Mohan Yadav ji took a new initiative of holding regional investment conclaves for a balanced development of the State. This initiative will greatly benefit all States in the future for their balanced development,” Mr. Shah said, while praising the State’s geographical location for the potential of its industrial growth.
“If a State does not develop in a balanced manner, it cannot progress, as immense potential lies hidden in every region. Cotton has been a traditional crop for farmers in the Malwa and Chambal regions, but due lack of fair prices, cotton cultivation had declined significantly. Now, through the PM MITRA Park, cotton has once again become a profitable crop,” he said.
Mr. Shah said Madhya Pradesh has set a record in the entire country by establishing 4.57 lakh new MSME units in one year. He highlighted various other works and achievements of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Union government in other sectors.
“Recently our foreign exchange reserve has crossed the record mark of $700 billion. We have made the fastest progress in Digital India. When Modi ji became the PM, India had only 7 crore internet users. By September 2025, we have created 101 crore internet users. 4G connectivity is available in 95% of the country, and preparations are underway to extend 5G connectivity to 99% of the country. Around 50% of all digital transactions in 2024-25 took place in India,” he said.
Mr. Shah said that 60% of world’s vaccines are now made in India, while the country is also the second largest mobile phone manufacturer.
“In Ease of Doing business, we ranked at 142 in 2014 and today we are at 63. During the UPA regime there were 90,000 kilometres of National Highways and today 1,50,000 km have been added. There were 3.81 lakh km of rural roads and today it is 7.84 lakh km,” he added.
Paying tributes to Vajpayee, Mr. Shah termed him “a great orator, a sensitive poet and a leader dedicated to public welfare who remained ajatashatru (person without enemies) in politics”.
Mr. Yadav said that it was the Home Minister’s strategy that helped Madhya Pradesh eliminate Maoism as the State bid “aakhiri salaam to Lal Salaam (farewell to Red Salute)”.
Thirteen Maoists have surrendered in Madhya Pradesh in the past two months, with the government saying that they were the last of cadre present or active in the State.
