Good news for Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh: First flight from Jewar airport to start from…, ticket booking will start from

Jewar Airport

Jewar Airport to start flights from May 30, 2026, after resolving security clearance issues. CEO change clears hurdle, with 13-city connectivity and ticket bookings likely to open by mid-May.

After months of anticipation, Noida International Airport (Jewar Airport) is finally set to begin commercial operations. Authorities have confirmed that regular passenger flights will start soon, bringing major relief to NCR travelers.

Commercial flights from Jewar Airport will officially start on May 30, 2026. The decision was taken after reviewing readiness, licensing, and operational timelines following the aerodrome clearance granted in March.

Despite infrastructure being ready, operations were delayed due to security clearance issues. As per Indian aviation rules, the airport CEO must be an Indian citizen to handle security coordination responsibilities.

To resolve the issue, the airport operator has decided to replace foreign CEO Christoph Schnellmann with an Indian national. This move is expected to speed up final approvals from the Home Ministry.

In the first phase, flights will connect Jewar Airport to 13 major cities, including Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Jaipur, Goa, Varanasi, Bhopal, and Jammu.

Ticket bookings are expected to open by mid-May once airlines release schedules. The airport is set to boost regional growth, ease IGI Airport congestion, and become a major aviation hub for NCR.
