Ghaziabad, May 09 2025: Prateek Group has demanded a high-level inquiry and strict action regarding the drain diversion and its blockage, illegally done by another developer in the vicinity. The drain diversion is the root cause of the incident of basement flooding with drain water that occurred in Prateek Grand City, located in Siddharth Vihar.
The illegal blockage of the original path of a Kaccha Naala and diverting it to a new path led to the flooding incident in the basement of Prateek Group Housing’s Grand Carnesia and Grand Paeonia at Prateek Grand City in Siddharth Vihar, Ghaziabad on 02.05.2025. This happened due to the rupture in the Naala near the Prateek Grand City project site.
The drain runs past the Prateek Group’s project site toward Hindon river. However, just ahead of the project, the direction of the drain was allegedly turned by another developer. This diversion obstructed the natural flow of water, increasing pressure on the drain, ultimately causing the wall to collapse. This further led to the drainage water flowing into the ongoing project site as well as the basement of Prateek Grand City.
A high-level inquiry into the incident has been demanded, along with strict action against those responsible. The flooding caused severe inconvenience to the residents of Prateek Grand City.
With the support of Avas Vikas Parishad, the Municipal Corporation Ghaziabad, and the District Administration Ghaziabad, the Group swiftly responded to the situation, stood by its residents, established a dedicated help desk for affected families, and mobilised a team of approximately 100 professionals to carry out emergency operations. Each of the 3,000 households was provided with 20 litres of drinking water. Multiple water pumps, tractors, and other equipment were deployed round the clock to extract the water. Within a short span, the basement was completely cleared, sanitisation was carried out, and essential services, including elevators and water supply, were fully restored, bringing life back to normalcy in just 4days
Besides, the Group took the responsibility of constructing the permanent and concrete drainage line at its own cost. They have also submitted formal representations to concerned government authorities and reached out to the Chief Minister’s office seeking intervention. The Group has further stated that the altered drain alignment and structural issues are visible on Apple Map, reinforcing their claims.
