Amazon and Pinkish Foundation Unveil Menstrual Awareness Murals on Menstrual Hygiene Day

On the occasion of World Menstrual Hygiene Day, a special awareness initiative was organized in Gurugram to promote menstrual hygiene awareness among women and adolescent girls. The program was conducted by Amazon and Pinkish Foundation under Project Prayatna at the Millennium City Centre Underpass, opposite the GMDA office in Sector-44, Gurugram.

As part of the initiative, menstrual health awareness murals were unveiled to encourage open conversations and spread awareness around menstrual hygiene. Through this campaign, Amazon and Pinkish Foundation aimed to create awareness across Delhi-NCR by installing informative paintings on flyovers and roadside walls. In addition, video messages and awareness campaigns were also conducted to educate women and young girls about menstrual hygiene and health.

During the event, the “Prayatna Menstrual Awareness Van” was also launched by Amazon and Pinkish Foundation. The awareness van will travel across various regions of Delhi-NCR to educate women and adolescent girls on the importance of menstrual hygiene. Under Project Prayatna, the initiative aims to reach and create awareness among nearly 4.5 lakh women and girls.

The event was graced by Chief Guest Amanpreet Pasi, IRS, Additional Director, Income Tax (Training), New Delhi. Addressing the gathering, she said, “Menstrual hygiene is not just a matter of health, but also closely linked to women’s dignity, confidence, and empowerment. Such awareness campaigns play a significant role in bringing positive social change. The efforts of Amazon and Pinkish Foundation are truly commendable as they are reaching a large number of women and girls with important information.”

Speaking on the initiative, Shalini Gupta, National General Secretary of Pinkish Foundation, said, “Even today, a large number of adolescent girls and women in the country lack access to accurate information and basic menstrual hygiene facilities. Research suggests that more than 50% of girls are unable to follow proper menstrual hygiene management practices, while the situation is even more concerning in rural areas. Through this campaign by Amazon and Pinkish Foundation, our effort is to expand awareness, education, and access to essential facilities so that women and girls can live healthier and safer lives.”

Amazon and Pinkish Foundation have been continuously working towards eliminating period poverty in India and empowering women through awareness and accessibility initiatives. Their objective is to ensure that women and girls have access to the right information and essential hygiene support so they can lead healthier and more dignified lives.
